iSugoi.com was started in 2008 as an outlet for the exploration of Asian cinema and animation. Initially stemming from another site solely based around Japanese animation (the now defunct Otakucrave.com), iSugoi was brought to fruition to look more intently into both Asian cinema and animation through a variety of measures such as reviews and essays. Its founder and editor is Miguel Douglas. Our site prides itself on being 100% ad free for your viewing/reading pleasure.

Editor in chief
Miguel Douglas: As an avid viewer of both Japanese animation and cinema for more than a decade now, Miguel is primarily concerned with establishing a critical look into both mediums as legitimate forms of artistic, cultural, and societal understanding. Never one to simply look at a film or series based solely on superficiality, Miguel has dedicated himself towards bringing awareness to Asian entertainment and its various facets. Miguel has written for Midnight Eye, PopMatters, Manga Life, Directory of World Cinema: Japan and is a staff member at JapanCinema.net
